CINEFEST STARTS ON FRIDAY

After the presentation of the international jury the Lifetime Achievement Award 2009 will be given to Mr. Sławomir Idziak on Friday, 11 September, 5.30 PM during the opening ceremony of CineFest in Miskolc, House of Arts, Uránia - PORT.hu terem. Mr. Idziak will conduct an open workshop titled FILM LANDSCAPE - THE NECESSITY OF THINKING FORWARD on Saturday, 12 September 11 AM in Béke - Funzine terem.

Franciska Gaal: a star from Hungary. Born in Budapest in 1904, died in New York in 1973. Now an intriguing exhibition will provide exciting new pieces of her life story. Openig: Friday, September 11, 4 PM, Színészmúzeum, Déryné u. 3.

Twenty years have passed since the fall of communism in Central Europe. This year a CineFest workshop (at Miskolci Galéria, Rákóczi u. 2.) covers the events of 1989. Roundtable discussions, lectures, documentary screenings will give some lesser known details and background information about this remarkable historical situation on Saturday, September 12, from 11 AM.

Academy Award winner director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland), will also visit CineFest - Miskolc International Film Festival on Sunday, September 13, from 11 AM. He will attend a workshop (Uránia - PORT.hu term) dedicated to the memory of his grandfather, Emeric Pressburger. Mr. Macdonald will visit Pressburger's place of birth and at CineFest he will talk with The Guardian's film critic Ronald Bergan about the Hungarian roots of Pressburger's art.
