Carmen Gray is a journalist, critic, and film programmer from New Zealand, who lives in Berlin. She has written extensively on cinema and culture for The New York Times, Sight & Sound, The Criterion Collection, The Guardian and others, mainly focused on Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Caucasus. She is a programmer for the New Zealand International Film Festival, and is on the Generation section selection committee of the Berlin International Film Festival. She is a regular industry adviser on films at the editing stage for First Cut Lab, and teaches workshops on journalism for emerging writers.
