The film tells the story of Berlin conductor Tom Lunies' dysfunctional family, whose members have
long been estranged. Tom is working with his composer friend Bernard, who is suffering fromdepression, on a performance of the work Sterben (Dying). In the shadow of tragedy, Tom's family, confronted with the thought of death, is finally reunited after a long time. This deeply personal family story is both a poignant and disturbing drama and an entertaining black comedy, already hailed as a masterpiece by international critics. Matthias Glasner's film won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlinale.
