EIGHT POSTCARDS FROM UTOPIA

Opt Ilustrate Din Lumea Ideala / 2024 / Romania / 71 min

Eight Postcards from Utopia is a found-footage documentary assembled entirely from post-socialist Romanian advertisements. Drawing from Romania's long transition period, the film explores love, death, the human body, and the supernatural, while examining socialism and capitalism. Balancing between found poetry and outdated encyclopedia, trash art and Summa theologiae, director Radu Jude collaborates with philosopher Christian Ferencz-Flatz to create a hilarious yet unforgiving critique of metacapitalist mythology.
