FEJLÖVÉS

FEJLÖVÉS / 1968 / Hungary / 95 min

After the film, Prof. Dr. Zita Horváth, Rector of the University of Miskolc, will have a conversation with the main actors – Kati Kovács and Charlie Horváth. The film is based on a true story, inspired by a newspaper article, and the director, Péter Bacsó, considered it one of his best works. Its stars, Kati Kovács and Károly Charlie Horváth, are iconic singers, yet the film's impact comes from its unpretentiousness, János Zsombolyai's straightforward cinematography, and the detailed, unflinching portrayal of contemporary Hungary. The story begins with two boys and a girl deciding to commit suicide, a premise that explains why Bacsó's work was often classified as tolerated. This film, much like The Witness, which was filmed around the same time, faced similar scrutiny.
