CineFest to start again soon, the international short film competition program is complete

Short film competitions have a long tradition in the festival’s almost two-decade history: when CineFest was launched in 2004, the festival’s founders wanted to give young filmmakers the chance to showcase their work. The short film program is the best example of this tradition, as many filmmakers who have since gone on to make a name for themselves started their careers with short films. This year, the deadline for entries was the end of April for films made in 2021 or later and not previously screened in Hungary at any other event. The jury has now finalized the selection: this year, a total of 23 short films will compete in four blocks.

The selected films come from various countries, including Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland and Switzerland. Several of them are co-productions.

Two screenings of each program will be held in the House of Arts. In keeping with the festival’s long tradition, these screenings are free of charge.
