THE “NORTH HUNGARIAN REGIONAL FILM FUND MISKOLC” AND THE UNIVERSITY OF MISKOLC INVITE YOUNG PEOPLE AND STUDENTS TO SUBMIT SHORT FILMS
The aim of the competition:
The special professional jury of the CineFest Our Home Miskolc Program aims to award entries that effectively showcase the values of Miskolc and Košice that make these cities worth visiting and exploring for young people.
It is important that the program features works that focus on the history, culture, and values of Miskolc and Košice, as well as the relationship between the two cities. The good relationships developed within the project will help foster cultural ties between the two cities in the future.
Fontos, hogy a program során olyan alkotások jöjjennek létre, kerüljenek bemutatásra, amelyek Miskolc és Kassa történelmére, kultúrájára, értékeire, illetve a két város közötti kapcsolatra fókuszálnak. A projekt keretében kialakuló jó kapcsolatok a jövőre nézve segítséget nyújtanak a két város közötti kulturális kapcsolatok ápolásában.
Eligibility:
Applications are open to all Hungarian and Slovak youth between the ages of 14 and 34. (Slovak applicants are expected to submit works featuring Košice, while Hungarian applicants are expected to submit works featuring Miskolc.)
Entry requirements:
Entries may be submitted without genre restrictions, using any technique, and must have been made after January 1, 2023. CineFest gives preference to atmospheric films; if there is dialogue, films made by Slovakian entrants must be subtitled in Hungarian.
Entries are welcome in the short film category: Short film: (film lasting between 30 seconds and 3 minutes)
There is no entry fee!
Entry deadline: August 20, 2025
Entries can be submitted from July 20 by filling out the form found under the application tab on the mifilm.hu website.
A special professional jury of the festival’s Our Home Miskolc Program will select the three best films (the three best short films made by Slovak youth and the three best short films made by Hungarian youth) from the submitted works , the creators of which will receive a CineFest gift package and will be guests of the festival for one day, where they can attend the screening of their films. The winners will be announced and the entries will be screened at a workshop organized as part of the CineFest Our Home Miskolc Program, followed by the Miskolc-Kassa Cultural Mini-Conference.
