After his experience in a youth movement, Mr. Tang repeatedly retreats, returning to a small island formed by the accumulation of the Yangtze River's drifting sands. There, he runs an organic farm. However, years of running this farm have caused him to face repeated hardship and failure. A mother, who lived in seclusion on a mountain, comes down to stay for a few days with her daughter Xiao Yu, who works at the organic farm. She waits there for her daughter to accompany her back to their old home on the winter solstice. Xiao Yu, following in the footsteps of Mr. Tang, takes root in the organic farm. Under her mother's gaze, she becomes aware of the traumas of her life that she can no longer avoid.
