Miskolc-based Kinodomino will be presenting four screenings at this year’s CineFest. They offer a wide range of documentaries, with a variety of accompanying events in special alternative locations. The films will be brought to Miskolc with the support of the Kinedok program.

On 1 September at 7.30 pm, Paying a Visit to Fortuna can be watched at the Grizzly Music Pub (3525 Miskolc, Városház tér 3.). The main characters of Mátyás Kálmán’s documentary are Anikó and Laci, a couple in their fifties from Győr. Before they won 630 million in the Scandinavian Lotto, they lived in poverty. Laci supported the family by delivering newspapers and taking care of Anikó, who hadn’t left the apartment for 25 years because of her anxiety disorder. Winning the lottery will give them both the chance to finally live a comfortable, happy life. But Anikó and Laci have very different ideas about what would bring them joy. While Laci wants to quit his job and travel, Anikó wants to fulfil her own ambition by opening a café, setting up a charitable foundation and managing the finances. Conflicting dreams and the difficulties money brings turn the couple’s lives upside down. Will money bring them happiness?

On 7 September at 7.30pm, Killing of a Journalist will be screened at Otthonka (3525 Miskolc, Horváth Lajos u. 7.), along with a discussion. The film, which deals with recent events, gives a picture of the true face of not only Slovakia, but the whole post-communist region, with shocking real footage, statements by the victims’ immediate relatives and colleagues, and the tension of a political thriller.

On 8 September at 7.30 pm, the film King Skate will be screened at the Avas Kapuja (3530 Miskolc, Papszer u. 2.). The film shows the rise of skateboard culture in Czechoslovakia.

On 9 September at 7.30 pm, you can take an experimental journey with Uglimán at the Gonda Winery (3530 Miskolc, Arnóti sor 139). Márk Bartha, Máté Bartha and Máté Kőrösi bring us a live A/V experience.
