Denis Coté, the head of the jury in the 2019 edition of CineFest, brought his new film to the competition program of 2021. The Social Hygiene premiered at the 2021 Berlinale and debutes in Hungary at the CineFest. In Berlin Coté was awarded with the Encounter Award for best director. The former Alfred Bauer Prize was given previously to directors like Léos Carax, Baz Luhrmann, Zhnag Yimou, Park Chan-wok, Andrzej Wajda, Alain Resnais or Agnieszka Holland.
