The opening film takes us back to Paris in the 19th century

The opening film of the festival is French director Cédric Klapisch‘s film, which premiered in Cannes. The creator of the highly successful The Spanish Apartment trilogy returns with a comedy set in multiple chronological layers. The main characters of Colours of Time are four cousins who lead very different lives but share a family secret. In 1895, one of their ancestors, 21-year-old Adèle, left her hometown to search for her mother in Paris. The city, on the threshold of the modern world, is full of avant-garde art, photography is making its way, and Impressionist painters are appearing. As the four young people follow in Adèle’s footsteps, the young woman’s astonishing story unfolds before them. With its lighthearted tone, Colours of Time is the perfect opening film, drawing attention to cultural diversity with its story that extends across time and generations, just like the festival itself. The opening ceremony and film screening will begin at 5 p.m. on September 5, 2025, in the Pressburger Hall.
