Hungary in the mid-1980s. Gyuri Maurer is a skilled mechanic from Veszprém who can fix anything - even the Ladas of party leaders. His family wants to go on holidays, but instead of four passports, only three arrive. Suddenly Gyuri comes up with a great idea: they will simply borrow the dream-car of a Hungarian dissident who left it with him. With a German car and papers, instead of Hungarians heading west, they
become tourists from the west, enjoying the ultimate luxury at Lake Balaton. Little do they know that they are driving the "borrowed" car straight into the Cold War...
