Since its beginning, the festival has paid special attention to finding new voices, reaching out to young film-loving audiences. That is why the CineNewWave section, which has become a tradition in the last few years, focuses on young filmmaking talent from Hungary and beyond. It is primarily an opportunity for students and graduates in film studies to showcase and test their films.
The selection promises the audience the pleasure of discovery and a personal encounter with the creators. In this section, the Hungarian premiere was not a compulsory condition, and the selected films include both multiple award-winning films and new discoveries. The CineNewWave program has previously shown short films by Hungarian filmmakers such as Réka Bucsi, Luca Tóth and Hajni Kis.
